We use solid panels, slatted screening, trellis and planting support to reduce overlooking around patios, seating areas and boundaries while retaining light where possible.

Choose fencing around what you need it to do

The right fencing depends on the level of privacy, appearance, exposure and maintenance you want, as well as the conditions along the boundary itself.

Closeboard & boundary fencing

A strong, practical choice for privacy and clearly defined boundaries.

Closeboard fencing can be adapted to different heights and levels and works well where durability and a traditional timber finish are the main priorities.

Decorative fence panels

Decorative panels can provide privacy while giving the boundary more character than a standard solid fence.

Different proportions, timber details and panel styles can help the fencing sit more naturally alongside the property and surrounding landscaping.

Slatted screening

Horizontal or vertical slatted timber creates a cleaner, more contemporary form of screening.

It works particularly well around patios, seating areas and overlooked parts of the garden where some separation is needed without making the space feel completely enclosed.

Trellis fencing

Trellis can be used above fencing, as a standalone screen or to support climbing plants.

It is useful where additional height, softer screening or a stronger connection between the boundary and planting is wanted.

Picket & lower fencing

Lower fencing can define front gardens, paths and different areas without blocking views through the space.

It is particularly useful where enclosure is needed but full privacy is not.

Side gates and garden access points can be designed alongside the fencing so they feel like part of the same boundary.

Few garden boundaries are perfectly straight, level or completely clear. Changes in ground level, existing walls, trees, sheds and neighbouring structures can all affect how new fencing needs to be installed.

Working within the existing boundary, we can overcome these obstacles with stepped panels, carefully positioned posts, considered corners and neatly integrated gates so the fencing sits naturally within the garden.

The quality of the installation makes a big difference. Good setting out, strong posts, consistent lines and clean finishing can turn a necessary boundary into a feature that adds structure and character to the garden.

Existing fencing is removed where required before the new line is set out and posts, panels and gates are installed securely.

Step 4

Finish & clear

We check alignment, fixings and access, remove waste from the work and leave the new boundary ready for use.

Would definitely recommend Hertfordshire Drives and Landscapes. They replaced an old patio with porcelain tiles and installed a new path. Tom, Zach and Will were an excellent team, nothing was too much trouble and Tom suggested minor enhancements to our project which improved the overall finish. The communication was outstanding, both from Mia in the office and the on-site team. The whatsapp group was a great idea and meant you were kept up to speed at all stages of the project. We had a few problems with foxes once the turf had been laid and Tom went over and above ordering fox alarms and carrying out repairs to electrical cables.
